What is psychology? How did it originate? How and why has it changed and where is it headed?
In this blog, I’ll explore these questions while taking a deep dive into the roots and major themes that is shaping the academic discipline of psychology today.
Spread throughout each week, I’ll respectively post three entries focusing on a selected influential psychologist and their most prominent work, a recent psychological study published in an academic journal, and a personal opinion piece about the myriad of different topics within psychology.
There will be a multicultural focus on psychologists from academically underrepresented parts of the world, such as South East Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa, South America, and many others. The reason for this highlight is to celebrate the diversity of the field and investigate how psychology is dynamically integrating with other ideologies and cultures on a global scale. With the emergence of psychological associations all across the world, there is no greater time than to educate ourselves about their work.
Additionally, as this is a blog about the academic study of psychology, all the major disciplines will be explored. These include, clinical, social, cognitive, developmental, health, neuropsychology, quantitative, among a vast array of different directions research is heading.
I hope you will join me on this venture as psychology is an ever evolving and fascinating scientific field unlike any other. The works we’ll examine explores the inner workings of our minds and behavior that enable us to think critically of who we are and what we do.
Thank you for reading!
